With traditional Cat5e cabling it
is only possible for each cable run to be a maximum
of 90 metres in length. In addition to this, Cat5e
cable is copper based and is not advised to be ran
outdoors and under no circumstances should it be laid
next to mains cables etc. Under certain circumstances
this can cause a considerable problem; however with
optical fibre cable only transmitting a light signal,
it overcomes all of these difficulties and is completely
unaffected by electrical interference and the short
distances supported by traditional copper based cabling.
