The Orchid team with Brian Blessed
Orchid IT, the Midlands’ leading supplier of IT support and services, is celebrating after being crowned ‘Business of the Year’ at the 2009 Business Awards Derbyshire.
Pride Park-based Orchid beat the challenge from Hilton-based John Bowler Eggs and XJF Plastics in Chesterfield to scoop the award at a glittering awards ceremony, which took place at Pride Park Stadium.
Founder and Managing Director Brett Critchley was presented with a limited edition trophy by actor and TV personality Brian Blessed in front of more than 400 of the region’s leading business people and entrepreneurs.
Brett started Orchid in 1996 from his spare bedroom and since then the company has enjoyed phenomenal growth, with turnover reaching the £10 million mark.
Orchid now employs 50 staff at its purpose-built 7,500 ft2 headquarters on Pride Park. The company supplies IT support and services to more than 1,200 businesses across the UK, ranging from large corporates to SME’s. Orchid also supplies IT support and services within healthcare, education, sport and public sectors, and has several many high profile clients including Derby County Football Club.
Commenting on his win, Brett Critchley said:
“Winning the title of Company of the Year is a tremendous achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our 50 strong team, who work consistently hard to make sure that we provide our wide client base with a level of service that is unrivalled in our industry.
James Twigg added:
“This award represents what can be achieved through a commitment to excellence and a team that delivers on its promises.”
Our challenge now is to build on this success and continue to offer the levels of quality and service for which we have become renowned,” added Brett.
