Abex Ltd was founded in 1966 and over the years has established itself as one of the UK’s leading independent suppliers and hire providers of forklift trucks, with an enviable reputation for customer service and support.

The Birmingham-based company specialises in the supply, hire, service and repair of forklift trucks and associated materials handling equipment. It is the exclusive West Midlands dealer for the Nissan range of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment and also has dealer and distribution agreements with Combi Lift, Logitrans, Tecna and other respected manufacturers.

As a result its customer list includes everything from major household name PLC’s to single forklift truck users.

Director Martin Connop made the decision to switch the company’s IT support and services to Orchid 18 months ago, after previously outsourcing its IT services to another company.

Martin had previously worked with Chris Tate, Orchid’s technical support director, and chose Orchid to handle Abex’s IT based on Orchid’s excellent track record across a diverse range of market sectors.

Commenting on Abex’s decision to switch to Orchid, Martin said:

“After an initial meeting with technical director Chris Tate, I decided that outsourcing all of our IT to Orchid would be a very sensible decision and free us up to concentrate on running our business.

“The switch-over from our previous supplier was incredibly smooth, and was handled with minimum disruption to our business.

“We’re not an IT savvy company, so it was important that our chosen supplier should make our IT as hassle-free as possible – which is why we chose Orchid. We find them efficient, proficient and easy to deal with. There are rarely any problems with our system, and any issues we have are corrected immediately.

“Orchid supply us with full hardware support as well as non-specialist software, as we currently run a special piece of forklift industry software on our machines.

“Every thing about Orchid is perfect – the only thing that takes the edge off it is the fact that we have to pay them every month!”
